Body Casting & Body Empowerment Photo Shoot

Come make a mold of any body part to symbolize your love for your body! Rooms will be private and gender sensitive. You may also participate in a semi-nude photo shoot to empower you to love your body. Free Mocktails!

There will be a women-identified room as well as a gender neutral room for body casting, so everyone is welcome! The semi-nude photo shoot will be done in a one-on-one private room with a professional photographer. There will be props available to use: a sign large enough to cover you that says “Every Body Is Beautiful”, a couple of sheets, and a mirror, and a chair. You are welcome to bring your own props too. Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff are all welcome. Your photos will be available only to YOU after the shoot unless you tell us it’s okay to use for V4W publications.

Join author and activist Hanne Blank (Big Big Love and others) for a frank, funny, paradigm-shifting night of learning why there’s no wrong way to have a body when it comes to sex… no matter what your body’s built like or looks like. We’ll take a compassionate look at those old body-related fears and scars together, and talk about new ways to think about all the many, many different ways that our bodies can be the vehicles for drop-dead delicious and totally sexy experience. All sexes/genders/orientations welcome, as well as all bodies! Food will be provided! A part of Voices for Women’s Love Your Body Week.

Instructor: Hanne Blank spends her time thinking, learning, writing, and speaking at the crossroads of bodies, self, and culture. Joyfully spanning the town/gown divide as well as the mind/body split, her books include the histories Straight: The Surprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality (Beacon Press, 2012) and Virgin: The Untouched History (Bloomsbury, 2007), the cult classic sex and body-acceptance books The Unapologetic Fat Girl’s Guide to Exercise and Other Incendiary Acts (Ten Speed Press, 2012), Big Big Love: A Sex and Relationships Guide for People of Size (and Those Who Love Them) (Celestial Arts, 2011), and numerous others.
