The class of 2005 had seen a year of firsts at Rollins: the first time 3 hurricanes have affected the college, the first Homecoming, and now, the first time the senior class has attempted 100% participation in the Senior Class Gift to the Rollins Fund 10 years.

Did you know that the actual cost of educating a student costs more than tuition at Rollins? Ever wonder who makes up the difference? That would be the Rollins Alumni. The Rollins Fund, which is made of contributions by Alumni, help support many of the services and activities we, as students, have come to rely upon and even take for granted.

Wish there had been more scholarship money available to you? Remember how much you wanted to live in a nicer dormitory? Now is your class to make those changes happen for future students. The Senior Class Gift is a fundraiser targeting the class of 2005, and as a senior, you have the ability to decide where you want your money to go: scholarships, academic support programs (remember how helpful that tutor at TJ's was?), student activities, faculty professional growth (help your professors become better teachers), faculty/ student collaborative research, library acquisitions (remember that book you needed that wasn't in the Olin collection?), campus technology (read: better, faster, more reliable Iinternet and AIM), and facilities improvement. Whether it's one dollar or one hundred, every cent counts. The Senior Class Gift Committee will be launching a series of events in the coming weeks targeting the class of 2005. Our goal is 100% participation in this fundraiser. Seniors can contribute to the fund by filling out pledge forms, which will be appearing in your campus boxes shortly. We're not concerned with the amount donated as much as the total participation.

The Senior Class Gift provides the class of 2005 with the opportunity to leave a legacy for future students of Rollins College. This project is a great way for our class to leave its mark while giving something back to Rollins. Plus, it establishes us, as the Class of 2005, as leaders; we are pioneering the first such senior gift project at Rollins in over ten years. Contributing to the Senior Gift is a way to say thank you to the community that has provided so much for us during the past four years. By making a commitment, we are helping to ensure a great Rollins experience for future students.

The Senior Class Gift Committee members will begin a series of campaigns to increase awareness of the Senior Fund and encourage students to donate.
