"Hi My name is Dave and I'll be your DJ for the next 110 Hours." With those heroic words WPRK's Dave Plotkin, launched his efforts to set Guinness World Record history by hosting the longest continuous broadcast by a single DJ in radio history. The WPRK Marathon is the latest fundraising initiative by the Rollins College based radio station regarded amongst the Winter Park community as the little station that can.

Endeavoring to raise money for station improvements, permanent Internet broadcasting and educational resources, WPRK is seeking the aid of corporate donors and individual listeners to underwrite portions of the history making broadcast which will run from Monday, January 17 through Friday, January 21, 2005.

Complete with celebrity guests, an eclectic assortment of live bands and musings by Plotkin (dwindling ever closer to mental collapse as the hours tick along), Marathon listeners will be entertained by a variety planned events. But it's the unplanned portions of the broadcast that are sure to lure listeners in as the Marathon bullies its way into the history books leaving memories of recent hurricanes and naysayer's in its stoic wake.

To take part in all the festivities, listeners of WPRK 91.5FM are encouraged to visit www.110hours.org for Marathon information, on-line donations and volunteer opportunities.
