This is a Rock and Roll Takeover
The House of Blues is known for being an amazing venue that hosts some of the most amazing tours, and this evening was no exception. The Spill Canvas, Plain White Tees, Ok Go, and the headlining band, Motion City Soundtrack put on an amazing show to wrap up their tour in Orlando this weekend.
Overall, the bands were extremely energetic and entertaining. Not only was the audience enjoying the set, but the band members seemed to as well. To find a band who actually loves what they do, and communicates that on stage in their shows is rare. The energy of the performers is crucial, and I can honestly say that each one put their all into the night.
The Spill Canvas opened up the night with decently long set including songs such as "All Hail the Heartbreaker", "Aim, Snap, Fall", and "The Tide". The band put on a dynamic performance giving both new and old listeners a chance to experience a fresh perspective on their music. Although the songs weren't exactly the same as the original versions on their albums, nevertheless, they were musically impressive and bright. As their set came to a close Motion City's lead singer, Justin Pierre, joined the band for a song. This gave the crowd just enough of a taste of the headliner they were so eagerly awaiting that it sent the masses into frenzy. Not only did this small jester show that Motion City supported their opening acts, but that it really takes a great deal of cooperation between the acts to truly put on an incredible show, musically and visually.

The Plain White Tees were a delight as well. Their set was high in energy, enthusiastic and somewhat playful at times. Highlighted by their single, "Hey There Delilah," this mellow tune gave the audience a chance to cool down and their die hard fans the opportunity to sing out. This break helped give a nice break in the mix of faster tempo songs. On the whole, their performance was impressive. These boys are obviously talented and passionate about what they do.
