During the whole process, there were approximately 175-200 girls interested in sororities. However, the number dropped drastically due to certain reasons. A lot of girls did not have the 2.5 minimum grade point average requirements. They could have also lost interest during the process or just didn't get into the sorority they wanted. However, certain sororities like AOII will have open recruitment soon which will give some girls an extra opportunity to join the sorority they want.
An interesting and new sorority on campus, Sigma Gamma Rho, caught my eye. Alex told me this sorority has a different process then the others. She said, "They are offered invitations instead of bids and they find out who got in the coming show where they perform in front of an audience…usually a step dance. Afterwards, they find out who got in."
Personally, if I could join a sorority it would either be Kappa Delta or AOII. I know the most people from both sororities and they are some pretty cool girls. However, being a guy would disqualify me. But for every Rollins girl out there who participated in Bid Day and got into sororities, I hope you have a great experience and meet some really cool sisters. It is only through college that you can experience something like this. If you did not get into a sorority or did not get into the one you desired, don't worry, its not over yet. You still have three more years! As for now, the clock is ticking. Get to know your sisters and get to know them well. Because the following years of college, you are going to form a bond that most of you will not forget. It is a new experience that you haven't dealt with before. It is the experience of a lifetime! For all the Chi Omega's, all the Kappa Kappa Gamma's, Alpha Omicron II's, Kappa Delta's, Non Compis Mentos', and Sigma Gamma Rho's, buckle up and have fun because it is sorority time!
