To celebrate the fateful day of Oct. 3, the Rollins College Film Club held a screening of the cult classic film “Mean Girls” from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the screening room of Kathleen W. Rollins Hall.
Released on April 30, 2004, “Mean Girls,” directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey, centers around sixteen-year-old Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) who has just arrived at North Shore High School from Africa. As she attempts to adapt to this new environment, Cady meets the girls who rule the school, The Plastics (Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert). As she befriends them and begins to learn about the ins and outs of Girl World, Cady quickly finds out why the Plastics live up to their name.
This hilarious, witty, coming of age piece isn’t a regular movie; it’s a cool movie. Needless to say — it is so fetch.
The decorations and atmosphere were super ‘grool,’ as Cady Heron would say. Many students who attended this event wore pink, in classic Plastic fashion. Some even wore headbands with mouse ears as references to Karen Smith’s Halloween costume.
Cady Heron might have been new to Northshore High School, but the Rollins Film Club isn’t new to hosting watch parties and fantastic events that are all things film. Follow the club’s Instagram page and keep an eye out for your favorite flicks. The limit of fun you can have at Rollins Film Club does not exist!
