On the morning of Feb. 1, Central Florida faced the coldest morning it’s experienced in 16 years, with lows in the 20s and numerous parts of Central Florida getting snow flurries. A weather alert was issued through Monday, Feb. 2.
The frosty conditions follow a drop in temperatures last week due to Winter Storm Fern, which affected 34 states and 220 million people. The storm originated from a low-pressure system off the coast of California and Mexico, which then moved east across the Great Plains and into the Northeast, with the Midwest and the South also feeling the effects.
Florida continues to feel these effects, along with the effects of an additional Arctic blast. Heading into this week, Florida will continue to face cold temperatures, with expected highs in the 50s and 60s.
