Digital R-Cards are expected to become available in March 2026, before the end of the spring semester at Rollins.

Along with the physical R-Card, there will be an option to access buildings, dining locations, Rollins garages on and off campus, and print all from your phone. The Rollins Team Dynamix website states that “Everything you normally do with your physical R-Card can now be done with your Digital R-Card.” It is recommended that students and faculty keep their physical R-Cards, though this new feature will make campus life a bit easier. This project involved contributions from Campus Safety, Facilities, Finance, Internal Communications, and Residential Life.
This new improvement has been in beta testing for the past few months to work out any flaws before releasing to students. Paul Reich, Associate Dean of CLA, is one of the faculty members taking part in trying out this new technology. He expressed that he has “encountered no issues getting into buildings, the parking garages, etc.” Additionally, Reich said he has “thoroughly enjoyed the convenience” of using his Apple Watch and iPhone in this way. “I’m looking forward to everyone having the same experience,” he said.
“It will enhance security by replacing a physical card with a more secure personal device that includes the extra security features of a digital wallet,” Reich added, mentioning that a physical card “can be lost or handed off to others.”
Reich advised that “students and faculty should be patient as this rolls out. There will be some growing pains. My experience has been smooth, and I hope most will have a similar experience. I trust that our IT colleagues will be proactive in resolving issues as they come up.”
