Winter Park Village shuttle returns

The Rollins Center for Campus Involvement has restarted the Friday night shuttle system offering transportation to the Rollins community. Rollins has partnered with Mears Taxi to provide students with shuttles to Winter Park Village, a nearby shopping center.

The shuttles were originally suspended at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic during the Spring of 2020. The return of the shuttles provides students a free option to access more of the Winter Park community.

“We’re hoping it allows students to feel a little bit more independence and autonomy in terms of getting around the local area,” said Director of Campus Involvement Bronwyn Holder.

For students without cars on campus, the shuttle offers a free method of accessing the shopping center, which features a movie theater, grocery store, and restaurants. This is also the only method of transportation provided by Rollins at this time since the bike program was halted at the end of the Spring 2022 semester.

“This is a unique way to build relationships because [students] can plan what they’re doing for the weekend,” said Student Outreach Coordinator Robert Whetstone.

As the shuttle system re-establishes itself, its schedule is flexible. Currently, the shuttle runs every Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight. Students are encouraged to email involvement@rollins.edu for more information.
