Extending their win streak, Rollins baseball earned its eighth straight win, beating the Flagler Saints 14-1 on Feb. 25.

Keeping their momentum from their previous wins, the Tars started strong with a single from redshirt senior Joey Rubin and Collin Hughes (‘26), giving the Tars an early 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, the Saints put a runner on third but didn’t find the scoreboard. Meanwhile, the Tars took a 3-0 lead from a fly ball from Stephen Deans (‘26) that got redshirt senior Jimmy Thies home.
Michael Furry (‘26) got the Tars working in the third inning with a triple down the line, giving Hughes another chance to score. Matthew Mateo (‘26) hit a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing Furry home for the RBI.
At the top of the fourth, Robert Ogg (‘27) shut down all three Flagler batters. The bottom of the fourth inning was an offensive explosion for Rollins with nine plated runs on just three hits with four walks and two hit-by-pitches. Deans and Hughes each drove in a run with RBI singles, while Furry and Thies both drew bases-loaded walks. A wild pitch allowed Rubin to cross the plate before Jayden Brown (‘27) put an end to the inning with a towering grand slam to right field, stretching the lead to 14-0.
Ryan Taylor (‘26) kept the Saints off the board in the fifth, aided by a sharp double play started by Rubin and finished by Mauri Bejarano (‘27) and Connor O’Sullivan (‘27). Mark Loubier (‘28) followed with an efficient sixth inning, wrapping up the frame in five pitches, thanks to yet another double-play ball. Redshirt junior Anthony Matteis forced yet another ground-ball double play in the seventh, the Tars’ fourth of the day, to put the finishing touches on a mercy-rule win over the Saints.
In the seventh inning, Flagler got on the scoreboard with a single RBI, finishing the game 14-1 with a Rollins win.
The Tars finished with nine hits, with Hughes accounting for three of them. He crossed the plate in all three of his trips on base. Furry added a hit along with two walks, scoring twice and driving in two runs. Thies managed to score three times despite not recording a hit, drawing three walks in the process. Brown’s grand slam marked his second home run of the season.
Following their game against Flagler, the Tars faced off against the Saint Leo Lions on Feb. 27, Feb. 28, and March 1. The Tars won all three games, improving their record to 13-4 overall and 6-0 in conference. Following the last win against Saint Leo, head coach Jon Sjorgen earned his 900th career victory.
Looking ahead, the Tars will host a non-conference game against Seton Hill University on March 3 at 2 p.m.
