Starting off the game, redshirt sophomore Noah Greenseid struck out two batters. The Mocs fought back and got on the scoreboard early with a 2 RBI single.

Working to get on the scoreboard themselves, Tars’ infielder redshirt senior Joey Rubin hit a bomb to center field for an RBI. Following Rubin’s RBI, Collin Hughes (‘26) was hit by a pitch, Michael Furry (‘26) hit a single, and Matthew Mateo (‘26) hit deep to right field, giving the Tars a 4-2 lead.

Greenseid shut down the Mocs in the second inning while Mateo hit a single to left field, giving Furry the chance to score and advance the Tars’ lead.

Following a stretch of quiet innings, the Mocs worked to catch up to the Tars with an RBI to right field. After the Mocs RBI, the Tars scored again as Rubin walked with the bases loaded, which gave the Tars a 6-3 lead.

The Mocs scored at the top of the eighth but were still behind two runs with Rollins leading 6-4.

With a double from Jayden Brown (‘27) followed by a left field single from Stephen Deans (‘26), Brown managed to run home and score. Following Brown’s score, Mauri Bejarano (‘27) smashed a single to right field and got home with a right field double from Hughes. After a big inning for the Tars, they extended their lead 9-4.

Florida Southern didn’t give up easily, scoring another RBI in the ninth inning, but Rollins’ pitcher AJ Seymour (‘27) struck the next three batters out, securing the Tars their first conference win of the year.

Following this matchup, the Tars and Mocs took the field again on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., where the Tars won 7-4 and 5-2. Rollins is now 9-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while Florida Southern is 4-11 overall and 0-3 in conference.

Looking ahead, the Tars will host Flagler College on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m.
