
The Rollins men’s soccer team defeated the top-ranked Lynn Fighting Knights at home on Oct. 18, winning 4-3.
With seven total yellow cards issued and one leading to a penalty kick for the Fighting Knights early in the first half, Rollins goalkeeper Kilian Vallant (‘27) made a save against Luan Barroso to keep the game scoreless.
Following up the penalty kick, the Tars took the lead with a goal from Jordan Proulx (‘26) assisted by graduate student Pablo Herrero.
In the second half, Lynn started with a goal by Dominik N’gatie, followed up with another by Fabian Vyhnalek.
A minute later, Tim Arnhold (‘28) tied the game with a goal assisted by Tolu Junaid (‘29).
Carrying their offensive pressure, Arnhold and Junaid connected again for Arnhold’s second goal, giving Rollins a 3-2 lead.
The Tars added another goal when redshirt freshman Justin Nelson assisted Diego Barcelos (‘28) in the Tars’ fourth goal of the match, extending the lead to 4-2.
The Fighting Knights worked to close the gap with N’gatie scoring his second goal four minutes later.
Rollins finished with six shots on goal, converting four, while Lynn had ten shots on goal and three goals. The Tars recorded seven saves compared to the Fighting Knights’ two.
The Tars now stand at 6-3-3 overall and 3-2-2 in conference play. Lynn moves to 9-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference, marking the Knights’ first loss in 32 games, dating back to Nov. 18, 2023.
Looking ahead, the Tars will face Florida Tech at home on Oct. 22, with kickoff set 6 p.m. The teams last met on Sept. 24, when Rollins fell 0-2.
