Tars vs. Tritons Ends in a Draw

The Rollins Men’s Soccer team competed against the Eckerd Tritons on Oct. 15 ending in a 3-3 draw.  

The Titans got onto the scoreboard first with Marcio Costa scoring 18 minutes into the match. 

Quickly after, the Tars found themselves at a disadvantage as Jaden Splunge (‘29) got a red card around the 19-minute mark for denying a goal-scoring opportunity. In turn, the Tars played the remaining 71 minutes with a man down.  

Although the Tars were a man down, they continued to push offensively with Hayden Judge (‘26) scoring off an assist by Tim Arnhold (‘28).  

15 minutes later, the Tars continued their offensive streak with another unanswered goal but this time by graduate student Zico Groenveld, which put the Tars up 2-1 around the 43-minute mark.  

Quickly after, the Tars continued to push ahead with yet another unanswered goal by Yousef Shakweer (‘27) who was assisted by Jordan Proulx (‘26) and Finlay Prain (‘28). 

Using their extra player as an advantage, the Tritons scored back-to-back with goals by Robert Thorarinsson and Daniel Freire tying the game at 3-3. 

The Tars had 11 total shots with seven being on target, while the Tritons had eight total shots and four on target. 

After this match, the Tars have an overall record of 5-3-3 and conference record of 2-2-2, while The Tritons have an overall record of 2-5-5 and a conference record of 0-3-3. 

Looking ahead, the Tars will host Lynn, the reigning National Champions, on Oct. 18. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. and the game will be available via livestream.
